The original Mayflower carried the Pilgrims to New England in 1620. After a voyage of 66 days, the 102 weary travelers finally sighted land at the tip of Cape Cod. They scouted for a suitable place to settle and finally decided upon Patuxet, known to the English as Plymouth. In 1955-7, a reproduction, Mayflower II, was built in Brixham, England. She was intended as a gift to America in appreciation of US assistance to Great Britain during WWII. A specially selected crew sailed the ship across the Atlantic, arriving in June of 1957. Mayflower II is now part of Plimoth Plantation, the living history museum of 17th-century Plymouth, Massachusetts.Finished sewn size 4" by 4" on 18 count Charles Craft fabric.
