To refresh the lustre of your gold jewellery, simply mix some non-toxic soap into a bowl of warm water, dip your jewellery into and then proceed to gently scrub the pieces using a soft brush. Wash it off with clean water, and let is dry completely before wearing or storing it. The process of plating is when a layer of gold is placed onto the surface of another metal. In our case it is placed onto 925 silver. As the base material is not 100% solid gold extra care should always be taken to maximise the plating on that piece of jewellery. Here are some tips to restore the lustre of your gold plated jewellery. Please avoid spraying perfume and other sprays while wearing your gold- plated jewellery. Make sure you wait until your body is dry from lotion or creams before wearing the gold plated jewellery. Oil, sweat, nail polish, perfume and chlorine can all react with the plated jewellery causing it to tarnish. Please remove your jewellery before you exercise, swim and other activities where these substances may be involved After wear, clean your jewellery with a cotton ball or a soft cloth which will remove any dirt and dust. Use a soft jewellery cloth NOT a polishing cloth as this could conflict with the plating. When storing your gold plated jewellery, to avoid scratches, wrap it in a soft cloth after cleaning or keep in a jewellery box not touching other jewellery. Zip- lock bags or pouches are fabulous for storing gold plated jewellery.
