This antique paper binding press was forged in France, circa 1860. The large Classic Presse a Relier made of solid iron is rectangular in shape and features two sides connected to the manual screw controlled by a wide top handle. This heavy tool is in very good working order for thick books, and adorns a rich patinated black finish with gilt painted motifs throughout. Decorate a shelf with this wonderful accessory in a study or library! In the old days, this kind of Presses a Papier were used to press the book's sheets together before receiving a bookbinding.
