This BabyRice Premium Family Hand Casting Kit contains everything you need to make a cast sculpture of up to four adult hands or 2 adults and 3 children, and includes a premium paint and wax finish (there is a plain finish kit available, without any paints). The standard version gives you one go to make 1 set of hand casts in the container. This means that for a family of (for example) 2 adults and 3 children, you would have enough casting materials for one go of making 1 set of hand casts. The larger kit has double the amount of casting materials, so you can make 2 sets of casts - this is ideal if you are worrying about wriggly children, or would just like to make a second hand cast set. The larger kit is also a great option for novice casters as it gives you the opportunity to try casting your hands for the first time and then having a second go at it should the first attempt be a failure! This all depends on size of the hands and the bucket you use to create the impression mould. Using a five litre bucket, the standard kit contains enough casting materials to create a single cast of: up to 4 adult hands up to 2 adults and 3 children up to 3 adults and 2 children If you would like to create more than one cast, why not upgrade your purchase to a Large Premium Family Hand Casting Kit. This larger kit contains double the quantity of alginate and plaster, producing two casts of up to four adult hands, when using a five litre bucket to create the impression mould. This means you can have a practice run with plenty of materials in reserve, making this a great option for first time casters. SKIN SAFE Our Family Hand Casting Kits contains high-grade, colour changing (chromatic) alginate impression powder, which is totally safe for use on skin. The main ingredient of BabyRice alginate is seaweed and all of our alginate conforms to British Safety Standards (BS 4269 Pt.2:1991) and ISO 1563:1990. Our BabyRice alginate has a short working and quick setting time, so you don't have to have your hands in the alginate mix for too long, just 30 seconds to a minute (depending on when you put your hands into the mix), for the mould to set. STRONG & DURABLE Each family hand casting kit is supplied with Herculite II, a strong, white, stone based casting plaster. Thanks to a fast setting time, Herculite II is the ideal material for creating a plaster cast. Our white plaster provides a fantastic base for painting and faithfully captures all the intricate detail from the impression mould. FINISHING OPTIONS With the exception of the No Paint option, BabyRice casting kits have a large choice of finishing options. Painting your cast helps to seal and protect the plaster, preventing dust and damp from damaging your cast over time. Our Premium Family Hand Casting Kits are supplied with black primer paint, which is used as a base coat and a pot of rich, highly pigmented metallic wax.
