The mylar type is semi translucent. These stencils are thin, durable, flexible, and reusable for years to come. Mylar stencils can be used in many applications such as print making, decoration, craft projects, fabric painting, airbrushing and more. The stencil shown in the photo is the 5 x 5 inch size, with the design being approximately 4.1 x 4.5 inches (height & width). The outer edges of the stencil measure 5 x 5 inches (height & width) leaving a border between the design and edge of the stencil. The additional sizes use the same format with the sizing scaled up accordingly, example: the 6 x 6 stencil will have the design starting around 4 to 5 inches. We recommend soaking the stencils in water with a small amount of dish soap (optional), then rinsing thoroughly. Discoloration or mylar residue from the manufacturing process is normal.
