This handy tool has holes for tightening and securing the burrs and the concave hollow at the top for installing the rivets with just a simple blow of a leather mallet or hammer. Please note this tool is for heavy duty copper rivets, and not the hollow, light weight rivets that are used for lighter fastening applications. Make sure the size of the hole punch matches the shank of the rivet. Insert the rivet into the hole from one side then inset a burr onto the shank on the other side. Set the leather and rivet on an anvil or any similar material then use a mallet or hammer and the open hole on the side of the setting tool to press the burr down onto the leather. Clip the rivet about 1/8th of an inch above the burr then use the dome section of the setting tool to further set the rivet. This listing is for the rivet setter only.
