This oddly satisfying metallic pen magically shifts its shape with the simple flip of a switch. The appropriately named SwitchPen was designed by CrushMetric who are famous for their avant-garde sculptural works that use the elastic properties of reflective mylar to create surprising visual transformations. When not in use, SwitchPen has a smooth cylindrical shape, but when you click the switch to start scribbling, the body of the pen crinkles audibly into a faceted geometric pattern. If you flip the switch slowly, you can actually watch the transformation travel down the length of the pen. The combination of visual, sonic and tactile effects is incredibly compelling and not just a little bit addicting. It's one of the most wonder-inducing writing implements we've ever come across.
