No providence could be found about Ellen herself. Description: Two simple and beginner style cross stitch samplers are found in Ellen Kingscote’s English sewing and needlework lesson book dating to the 1840s along with samples of her sewing, darning, buttonhole, knitting and embroidery work. The samples are mounted with sewing thread on fine tissue paper on a double pink page with a single blue insert page.
